Allow to Listen
by Dr. Chris Brown

Listening isn’t with your ears.

It’s with your mind, your consciousness.

But I’m not talking about listening to things external to you.

I’m talking about listening to the things internal to you.

But we don’t just start by listening. The ability to listen to what’s internal is like training a muscle.

Consistency and discipline over time is what will allow that muscle to flourish and when we stop using it, we lose it.

So okay, we just listen to ourself. You’re probably thinking, k, cool Chris, what does that even look like?

Step one is allowance. Allowance of yourself to listen.

To not resist your thoughts. To not resist what your body or your mind is telling you.

You probably won’t hear the requests of your system or your subconscious. That channel has probably never been opened before.

So sit in stillness. Just stop for 5 minutes. Grab a pen and paper, close your eyes.

And just be silent.

And recognize all the things that you never noticed otherwise because you are constantly on the move as soon as you wake up to the time you go to bed.

Acknowledge what it is that has never been acknowledged before.

Be okay with the tight muscle on your back, the soft vibrations on your arms, the memory from your 14u baseball season that bubbles up.

Just objectively allow.

And experience the peace that washes over your mind, body and spirit.

Now we go.
