Thinking you are really good at something does not mean you really are.
And being good at something is relative.
Because your surroundings are always changing.
And so you adapt.
Improvement is the core principle of The Empty Mile. It’s not a comparison game to anyone other than prior versions of yourself.
The source of improvement is you “re-doing” something you did when you first began.
Your attention widens. And you realize all the things you weren’t actively doing.
But you don’t go back to zero.
You know you’re good when your worst is someone else’s best.
Your worst right now used to be your best.
And your best right now will eventually be your worst.
The greats would rather be almost perfect than perfect.
That way there’s always room to improve.
